I walk away. I watch a movie, read a book, catch up on my scrapbooking. Sometimes that will work. If it doesn't, talk it over with those closest with me. Typically my block comes from a problem I'm having with the plot...even if I am unaware of the issue.
Keep writing. I actually used to hate this advice when people would give it to me when I was beginning. But it is so true. Finished a manuscript, but it hasn't been published yet? Keep writing. Having a hard time coming up with ideas? Keep writing (maybe doing short stories or prompts) and ideas will come. Get a rejection letter? Stick your tongue out at it and...Keep writing!
Typically ideas come better to me when I'm reading. I also love the rainy season because the storms really do drive my creativity. But, I guess I get inspired to write from my readers. I want to share my work with them and hear their opinions. That keeps me writing.
Creating! I love creating worlds and characters. I typically am not nice to my characters, but I love pushing the limits of story and seeing what develops.
Most of my books come with a pondering question. For the book out next year, it's "What if we could manipulate fate, but then bad things happen as a consequence?"
